NURSING STAFF

We are currently looking for nursing staff who have an interest in working in intensive care. As this is a specialised area, we would prefer applicants who have a interest in a long term position and who have preferably had previous experience in Intensive Care although this is not essential. We run a successful intensive care nursing course. There are further details on our "nursing info" page.

Interested applicants should apply to;

MEDICAL STAFF

Registrar Positions

Registrar appointments are usually of 6 or 12 month duration. Intensive Care trainees as well as those of other specialties (medicine, surgery, anaesthesia and emergency medicine) are welcomed. ICU registrars work an average of 44 rostered hours a week with additional transport call. Night duties are divided into 3 or 4 night blocks and trainees typically do 7 days of nights every 8 weeks. We prefer applicants to have had anaesthetic experience and to feel comfortable with airway management, line insertion and resuscitation.

These are interesting and enjoyable "hands on" positions and represent an invaluable learning experience. For further details go to our "registrar page".

Senior Registrar

One SR is appointed each year, starting in early December. This position is an excellent bridging experience between registrar training and a consultant post. As such, it is ideal for those that have successfully completed final fellowship examinations in anaesthesia or intensive care but have not yet completed their prescribed training time.

The SR is rostered on the consultant roster with nominal supervision from one of the department seniors. Research is encouraged and there is ample time for study towards the ICU fellowship examination. Rarely the SR may be required to fill in for the registrar roster. For further details go to our "registrar page".
